Romeno Alm – Amblar | 17
Along the (mountain) language border
The Mendel cable car takes you to the Mendel Pass. Via an easy trail and forest roads you roll to Amblar (900 m) in the quiet and almost sleepy upper Nonstal. From here, the route continues with a slight incline on an almost trafficless road in the direction of the Romeno Alm. The last few kilometres are on a gravel road with a few steeper stretches in store for you. But a little effort what you are looking for anyway. In return, an alpine hut with cows and good food awaits you.
The meadow with the chapel invites you to sunbathe. From here, you only have to climb a few meters in order to continue on wide, technically easy forest paths to the Mendel Pass. From there, the route descends a little along the road. Then mostly along paths and forest tracks to Kaltern, Altenburg and all the way back to Tramin.
