A beautiful remnant of the ice age
You can get to the provincial capital of Bolzano by bus and then take the cable car up to Oberbozen, then the train to Klobenstein. The start to the Rittner earth pyramids is above the Waldhotel Tann in Klobenstein. Follow forest path no. 27 for about 50 minutes, just before the “Lodenmoor”, about 100 m, turn right onto path no. 9. Attention, please walk through a gap in the fence here! Then the path leads slightly downhill towards Lengstein. Just above Lengstein you reach the notorious “Hexenboden”. Turn right here onto trail nr. 8, pass the “Haidgerber” tavern and then follow the Way of the Cross to Maria Saal. Continue on trail nr. 24 to the Rittner earth pyramids and to Lengmoos. Turn right at the Hotel Spögler, take trail nr. 35 A to the Rittnerstube and then trail nr. 1 back to the Waldhotel Tann.
