To the Lake and Leuchtenburg Castle | W8
Hike to Leuchtenburg Castle
From the Traminerhof you walk to the festival square. There you walk along the Mühlgasse until the fork, turning right to the Winzerhof. In the bend after the hotel is the entrance to the Tramin Nature Experience Trail.
With many display boards and information about the diverse flora and fauna an absolute highlight for young and old. The path leads you downhill through the mixed forest in the direction of Lake Kaltern. You enter the lake circuit trail and pass the Gretl am See kiosk, where you can treat yourself to a cool refreshment. Then continue along the north side of the lake to Klughammer. Here you will find the signposting up to the Leuchtenburg. Attention, on top of the castle there is no possibility to stop for refreshments. You can turn in for example in the restaurant Leuchtenburg. Afterwards it goes steeply uphill to the Leuchtenburg castle. From the top you have a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding vineyards. Now you keep heading south and towards the Rosszähnen. Through the forest and rocky gorges it goes downwards. You always stay on the path, which makes a right turn and brings you back to the ascent path to the Leuchtenburg castle. You now go downhill and across the north side of the lake back to St. Josef. Nothing should stand in the way of an ice cream on the lakeshore. Opposite the Hotel Seeleiten is the bus stop. From here you can take the bus back to Tramin.
