To the Überetscher Hut | W18
High, steep, long but unbelievably beautiful
This tour is definitely not for weak legs! From the hotel, you’ll head uphill along the Höllental stream. You follow the route through the forest to the Gummererhof, where you can stop for a cool refreshment. Then follow the signs to the Überetscher Hut. There is still a good steep stretch ahead of you. You’ll overcome the next meters of altitude via paths and trails, over hill and dale. Again and again you will enjoy the beautiful views of Tramin and the valley below.
Finally you reach the Überetscher Hut – also known as Cerba to the locals – and enjoy the delicious South Tyrolean cuisine. Wonderful. In addition, again a breathtaking view. After lunch, continue along the Gamssteig (narrow) to the Schwarz Kopf, which lies at 2,030m.
At the summit cross you marvel at the view again. Tramin is below you, Lake Kaltern is on your right, and behind you you can see as far as the provincial capital of Bozen. You can also see the most famous Dolomite peaks from here: the Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn, the Latemar, Rosengarten, Schlern and the Rittner Horn. This was now the highest point of the hike. You descend to Graun and continue through the forest towards the Zoggler meadow. Then you take the path n. 6 to Tramin.
PS: You can also simplify the tour and hike from the Überetscher Hut to the Mendel Pass and return by train and bus.
Very steep and demanding mountain tour
