Mitterberg Round | 205
Circumnavigating the Mitterberg
The Mitterberg is a long, forested hump between Lake Kaltern and the Etsch River. On this tour you will circle this very mountain.
From Traminerhof you roll along the cycle path to Neumarkt and along the Adige river in a northerly direction. You ride comfortably between orchards and vineyards. Follow the signs in the direction of Bolzano. Shortly before the provincial capital, the bike path winds slightly uphill again on the old railroad line in the direction of Kaltern. Sigmundskron Castle, which lies directly on the path, is well worth seeing. On the tour you will pass the two Montiggl lakes and Lake Kaltern, so don’t forget your swimming trunks!
Past Sigmundskron Castle the MMM of Reinhold Messner (closed on Thursday)
3 Lakes to choose as a bathing option
Right through the high plateau Montiggl which was formed during the Ice Age
